Special Events

Throughout the year HCGS sponsors special events. Here’s what’s coming up next…

You Are Invited To
The Hopkins County Genealogical Society
Holiday Social

We hope you will join us for our Second Annual Holiday Social at the library, 611 N. Davis St., Sulphur Springs, TX, Sunday afternoon, December 8, 2024, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. This gathering is being held in honor of our volunteers, without whom the Hopkins County Genealogical Society would not function. All our members are invited!

You may bring finger foods to share, and we promise good fellowship and the swapping of interesting stories with one another. Please mark your calendars and plan to come if you can.

Happy holidays to all, and we look forward to a full and fruitful 2025 for your genealogical research.

If Headstones Could Talk…City Cemetery Walk

2024 Annual Cemetery Walk
Join us for our ever popular City Cemetery Walk on Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the Sulphur Springs City Cemetery. Step back in time as HCGS members in period costume bring to life the stories of prominent figures from our community’s past. This is a memorable event and an important fundraiser for the society. This year we honor some of the residents of City Cemetery who served our country in their day. Our volunteers will bring them back to life through stories and costumes in anticipation of Veteran’s Day 2024. Click here to see the handout for more details. . .

Prior to the tour taps will be played by Marine Corp. Veteran Garry Hall.
