The society is currently gathering information on early Hopkins County rural schools with the intention of publishing a new book. A list of almost 100 schools in existence before 1930 has been compiled and the society is collecting pictures and histories of each school.
The archives has records from the county school superintendent’s office when it was officially closed and we have school census records from the 1950’s and 1960’s era. These records are available for research in our archives.
The archive will accept donations of original or copied works and photos. We also have a scanner that can be used to scan and save material to be donated. Contact the society if you have something to contribute.
