The quarterly published by our Society usually consists of 36 pages, with exception being the December issue which contains the membership and surname list. The yearly total of pages is approximately 150 pages. In 1995, our quarterly was selected the best quarterly in the state by the Texas State Genealogical Society, and we have continued to win other awards. We strive to uphold that recognition. The quarterly is mailed to over 350 members and 100 exchanges, which are located in many different states and university libraries. The quarterly is received by all members, and back issues are available for $5.00 each, plus postage. (See Hopkins County Publications for Sale page)

Research Library

The HCGS Research Library is located at 611 North Davis Street in Sulphur Springs, just one-half block off the downtown square. The Society purchased this building in 1994. The library is staffed with knowledgeable volunteers Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. In addition, the library is open till 8 p.m. on the first Thursday evening of the month. The library has two microfilm reader-printers, several microfilm readers and computers, and numerous CD's, Internet service, and several microfiche readers. The library also owns all of the microfilm censuses for every county in the state of Texas through 1930 as well as many other rolls of microfilm and microfiche from other states, newspapers and court records, and over 5,000 volumes of printed materials. Many people have donated records to our Vertical Files as well as printed family histories. The County Clerk has also made available computer copies of all marriage records and volunteers have copied many other historical court records. HCGS also has established an Archives section in the adjoining room with numerous original Hopkins County court records. The Archives also contains original family records, a large collection of photographs, original newspapers, Bible records, a 25-year scrapbook collection of Travis Elementary School, and all the Dairy Festival scrapbooks.  The Archives section is open each day.
